Usually, against stations in the same state. On September 29, 2026 we compared each state’s Costco diesel average with AAA’s statewide diesel average: Costco was $0.44 a gallon lower in California, $0.21 lower in Washington and Texas, and $0.19 lower in Utah.

What Costco diesel is
Kirkland Signature Diesel, Top Tier approved. Costco is on Top Tier’s list of approved diesel brands for the US and Canada. That standard covers injector-deposit and lubricity additives, oxidation stability, water checks at the station and dispenser filters. It is ultra-low-sulfur diesel, like all on-road diesel.
Biodiesel only where the law requires it. Any US diesel can hold up to 5% biodiesel without a label. Oregon requires at least B5 and Washington at least 2% bio or renewable diesel, which covers the Costco diesel pumps there.
Pickups yes, big rigs no. Costco diesel pumps are ordinary passenger-vehicle dispensers with the larger diesel nozzle, and there are no high-flow truck lanes. Tall motorhomes and trailers should check the canopy and the exit before pulling in.
DEF comes in boxes. No Costco sells diesel exhaust fluid at the pump; many warehouses stock 2.5-gallon (9.46 L) boxes inside.
